The Parent and Friends Association is run by parents/guardians of the children attending Mernda Primary School. The aim of this group is to encourage, support and welcome parent participation within the school. This association formally consists of a committee, with a President, Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary and Treasurer.
Traditionally seen as the major fundraising body for our school the Parent and friends Association actively organises activities during the year to raise money, which is then used within the school community to assist with the cost of activities and provide extra items required by the children to enhance learning experiences. The parents also assist and support staff and school programs throughout the year.
The Parents’ Club provides a major support role to the school over the year and runs special events such as Mothers’ and Fathers’ Day stalls and our annual school Fun Run. In fact this group has been supporting Mernda Primary School for many years with historical evidence dating back to even the 1950s as seen below!
The Parent and friends Association meet once a month at the school to discuss fundraising and special activities that they run throughout the year and all parents/guardians are welcome to attend. Parents who cannot attend the meetings may help out in many other ways around the school. Please contact the school for information regarding meeting dates and events.
All parent helpers must have a current Working with Children Check in order to assist at the school.
